A devastating earthquake has struck Japan effecting major semiconductor manufacturers such as Renesas and Sony. Following the main quake on April 16, Renesas is assessing the damage at its Kawashiri Factory (Kumamoto city, Kumamoto). Operations at Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation’s Kumamoto Technology Center (located in Kikuchi Gun, Kumamoto Prefecture) have been indefinitely suspended.
