As a result of the current uptrend we’re seeing globally, major MLCC firms are set to raise their quotes by 40-50%. These new prices are set to be effective now, and began increasing on April 1, 2018 – according to industry sources. As a result, 2nd and 3rd tier component manufacturers will likely become an increasing source.
Many downstream device manufacturers are reportedly engaged in developing alternative products employing fewer MLCCs. Some of these downstream device manufacturers are also considering sourcing MLCCs from China-based suppliers, which offer cheaper quotes.
